My son is 14 and was born struggling to breathe so thus whenever he gets sick it goes right to his respiratory system. When he was 11. I was introduced to essentials and just after I picked up my oils he came down with a horrible sounding croopy cough. I immediately started using the oils on his chest and feet and no kidding within a day and a half it was completely gone. I was confused! I didn't understand how the oils worked like that. I thought maybe it was just a coincidence. Then I had a lady come teach a class at my house one day and one of the moms there brought her baby who was 10 months old who had asthma and had been struggling the croup for two weeks. She would take him into the hospital and they would give him steroids. She was finally exhausted with not getting the results she hoped for and the fact that he wasn't getting better. She came to my class that day and the lady teaching took a couple of different oils and because our oils are so pure we can take them internally so she swabbed the back of his throat with the oils. He fussed for a minute not knowing what we were doing to him. I picked him up from the mom and took him to eat a banana. Within just a few minutes he had eaten the banana, color started to come back in his face, his weeping had lessened considerably and he started to smile and want to get down and crawl and play. The mom looked at me and said he hasn't eaten in days....and I can't believe he's not weeping. Then she started to cry and gave me a big hug telling me I was an angel.
A story from Experience Essential Oils Today:
Advice from Chris
I looked at my Modern Essentials book under "asthma" and got all the top recommended oils out, which included: eucalyptus, frankincense, peppermint, thyme, Breathe, and lavender.
I dripped several drops of Frankincense under my tongue a few times during the day. I rubbed a few drops on the bottoms of my feet (along with all the other asthma oils), and swallowed several drops in a gel capsule. With asthma, the bronchioles become inflamed, so I figured Frankincense would help, because it is an anti-inflammatory. And as the saying goes, "when in doubt, use Frankincense!"
I also dripped a few drops of Breathe into my hands, rubbed them together, then cupped them around my face and breathed in through my nose. I was amazed at how well this worked in decreasing the wheezing/congestion, and in opening me up. It became my natural breathing machine, instead of the one you plug into the wall and fill with medication such as albuterol, which causes rapid heart rate, shakiness, nausea, and anxiety.
I did this many times throughout the day and it always brought relief….
I also put the asthma oils on my chest, and put a moist heating pad directly on my skin. The moist heat helps drive those oils into the body….
By evening, I started to realize that my asthma was almost gone! Usually asthma gets worse at night, so I was really surprised that it was getting so much better! I was completely blown away by the results I got from using the essential oils to make my asthma go away. ONE DAY to get better instead of weeks/months!

We have a son who has also struggled with asthma for about six years (he is currently 12). We found doTERRA just over a year ago and were extremely excited about getting our son off of steroids. We rarely need to use steroids except for rescue, but we do still need to use them. He continues to make improvement and we still think he will only need to use oils in the near future.
We have several friends with asthma in their families. What we have found is that everyone responds differently to the oils. Some respond readily to just Breathe, others take some experimentation. Our son will sometimes respond very well to Breathe, other times it takes more. We are learning what to use at what time for the best result. Staying ahead of it helps a lot as I would consider my son's asthma a fairly tough case. Having said all of that, here is what we have learned.
We always have Breathe with us. At the first indication of any asthma trouble, or as a preventative when confronting a known trigger, we will put a drop of Breathe at the base of the front of his neck. (Where you see them caving if they are struggling to breathe.)
As a preventative for allergy triggers, we will have him take lemon, lavender, and peppermint, two drops each, in about a tablespoon of water. So he will, just drink the whole thing.
We use two oils on his feet every night. We try to mix it up a little since that works best. We will use some combination of lime, breathe, eucalyptus, melaleuca, or zendocrine. If there is any concern about how he is doing, we will also put a drop of the same two oils we are using on his feet that night on his chest and rub them in.
If he starts coughing a lot, or if we hear any kind of croup in his cough, there are four oils we will put on his chest or in a diffuser right away: melaleuca, rosemary, thyme, and peppermint. We use one drop each on his chest, two drops each if we diffuse. Sometimes we substitute white fir for peppermint. They have been a lifesaver for us!

My son was diagnosed with asthma when he was about 9 months.. he has been on his meds liquid steroid and inhaling steroids since then... in and out of ER.. At the Dr.s everyother week... I HATE ASTHMA!!! He'd been on steroids for the past 9 years and he turns 10 years old next month.. ANyway the only thing that works on him is... BREATHE and FRANKINCENSE!.. I put 5 drops of FCO and 3 drops of BREATHE Rub in my had and rub his chest and neck area and his back (on the lungs area).
Then i put 2-4 drops of FRANK in my hand neat (there will still be ome of the FCO on had from the Breathe) and Layer over the Breathe. The first time I did this was during an attack... and of course I was freaking out and praying the oils will work... and It did! THis has worked on everyone I used on (family and Friends kids)... And every time he has an attack.. My son hasn't had to do a treatment on the nebulizer, use his inhalers, or go to the DR. for his asthma since December... : )
