- Finger swipe doTERRA basil oil in the child's ear, not enough to drip. Don’t use another brand, some basil oils are skin irritants -don’t take a chance on the ear canal.
- Then put some melaleuca on a cottonball. Enough to wet it, but not drip.
- Tape the cotton ball over the ear and put them to bed. By the next morning, the ear infection will be gone.
My 1 yr old son woke up in the middle of the night screaming & holding his ear. I could see that the glands in his neck were also swollen. Typically I would start giving him children’s tylenol for the pain & then take him to urgent care for some antibiotics. But, I had just attended an Oil Class & was ready to try them. Here is what I did:A story about my friend, Emma's three year old:
I immediately put a warm compress over his ear. (corn bags that I slightly warmed in the microwave.) Then I rubbed melaleuca & purify all around his ear & pushed it out down his neck. This immediately calmed him down. I rocked him & surprisingly he fell asleep & slept through the night! In the morning, I could tell he was still in pain, so I again put the compress on his ear with the same oils. I repeated this 2 more times. He hasn’t complained of ear pain at all & is absolutely fine!
My friend, Emma's three year old had an ear ache on Saturday night. She did what she normally does when her son shows any signs of an ear infection: she heated up some olive oil in a saucepan to lukewarm status. She suctioned up the olive oil using a dropper and tested it on her hand to make sure it wasn't too hot. She put one drop in each of her son's ear canals and absorbed any excess oil with a tissue.
That same evening, I saw Emma and she was concerned about her son's ear ache, and I gave her a small sample of melaleuca oil with instructions on how to use it. On Sunday morning, she diluted one drop of melaleuca oil in 1 teaspoon of olive oil and rubbed it around both ears (but not in the ear canal) and down his neck below each ear. Her husband rubbed oil on the bottom and tops of both feet and their son enjoyed a foot massage!
On Sunday afternoon, she gave him another dose of olive oil in the one ear as he was touching it repeatedly and said it was hurting him. Then she put another drop of melaleuca in the leftover meleleuca / olive oil mixture from earlier that day and rubbed it on both ears and neck as before.
On Monday, her son was doing really well and there was no signs of an ear infection!! Yay!
