Menstrual pain and essential oils

I experienced menstrual pain in my lower back today, so I referred to my Modern Essentials book, and it suggested drinking water with 5 drops of DigestZen, or massaging DigestZen over the pain.

I massaged one drop of DigestZen over my lower back and it immediately started to ease the pain. I also put 1 drop of DigestZen in my water to sip throughout the day. Within 20 minutes, the pain was just about completely gone, but then the pain flared up again about an hour later, so rubbed some Deep Blue on my lower back. That did the trick. My menstrual pain again eased immediately and then was completely gone within 20 minutes, and did not return.

Everything Essentials recommends the following oils for menstrual cramps:
  •  Clary Sage, Cypress, Deep Blue, Peppermint, Rosemary, Solace
  •  Apply 2 - 4 drops of Solace or Clary Sage/Cypress topically to the abdomen.  Use a warm compress on abdomen after applying oils
  • Take 8 -12 drops of Sandalwood internally in a capsule at the outset.  On the second day take 6 - 8 drops of Sandalwood in a capsule.
  • Also consider Basil, Clary Sage, Deep Blue, Geranium or Peppermint applied topically to lower abdomen or lower back. For additional help cup & inhale and use a warm compress after applying oils. 
  • You may need to experiment with what works for you.

I have also heard great things about Solace essential oil blend for menstrual cramps.

I just wanted to write to every one about my experience with clary sage. I was experiencing some very uncomfortable cramps today.  I looked up the protocol for menstrual cramps... put one drop of clary sage on my hand and rubbed it on my abdomen.  Instantly started to subside and now are completely gone after about 10 minutes!!!!!
